The Greek soprano Maria Taxidou was born in Kazakhstan. Since she was little begun she to take piano lessons and sung as soloist in a Russian folklore choir, that her mother directed.
At 1995 moved she with her family in Greece, where at 2012 she graduated the Musicology Department of the Aristotle University of the Thessaloniki. Parallel she studied at the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki. At 2009 she was honored with an award at the 25th Greek National Vocal Competition in Thessaloniki. Since 2014 she continued with her master studies with Prof. Turid Karlsen and Frederique Friess at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart, Germany. As part of her studies she appeared as Contessa Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro of Mozart and as Micaela in Carmen of Bizet. In February 2017 she graduated with the roles of Olympia, Antonia and Giulietta from Les Contes d’ Hoffmann of Offenbach. Direct after her studies she made her debut as Despina in the opera Cosi Fan Tutte of Mozart in Daegu Opera House in South Korea. Ms Taxidou took part at masterclasses with Margareet Honig and Brigite Fassbaender. She was a scholarship holder of the Friends of State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart (GdF). Ms Taxidou is also very active as a Concert and Oratorio singer in Greece and Germany. She performed with different orchestras like Chamber Orchestra Stuttgart, Daegu International Opera Orchestra, Stiftsphilharmonie Stuttgart and Stuttgart University Symphony Orchestra. |
